Short answers, with links to the full explanation.

What does the W mean on a Dodge W150 or W250?

In the Dodge D/W series, W means four-wheel drive and D means two-wheel drive. From the 1981 model year the 4x4s were sold as Power Ram models.

Which Jeeps have inverted-Y steering?

The XJ Cherokee (and MJ Comanche), the TJ Wrangler and the ZJ Grand Cherokee use the inverted-Y, or Haltenberger, layout. The YJ Wrangler uses inverted-T.

Can I run crossover steering on my 1978-1993 Dodge?

Owners and kit makers commonly do. The existing box usually moves back to the 2WD mounting position, and the steering shaft and pitman arm need to suit the new position. Use a kit made for your axle and follow its instructions. Trucks from 1977 and earlier need a different box.

What is a high-steer arm?

A steering arm that bolts to the top of the knuckle, so the tie rod and drag link ride above the leaf spring and away from rocks. It usually goes together with a crossover layout.

Is ram assist the same as full hydraulic steering?

No. Ram assist adds a cylinder to the existing mechanical steering, so the mechanical link stays. Full hydraulic steering has no mechanical connection and relies entirely on fluid power.

Do I need a power steering cooler?

Factory systems on some models list a cooler as optional. Hard-working assist or hydro setups benefit from one because steering hydraulics make heat. Mount it with good airflow.

Why do you not list part numbers?

Part numbers get superseded and misquoted, and the wrong one on a steering part is a safety problem. We show how to measure and match instead, and point you to the maker's own application list.

Does Dodge Off Road sell parts for 1st-gen (1989-1993) Dodges?

Nothing in the current catalog is made specifically for 1st-gen trucks, but the 2nd gen shackle flip kit can work on one. DOR has built 1st-gen crossover steering and shackle flips in the past, and you can ask the store about them through its contact page. Availability isn't promised. DOR doesn't list Jeep parts.

Will Dodge Off Road 2nd-gen parts fit my 1st-gen?

With 2nd-gen (1994-2002) axles under a 1st-gen, DOR long arms, steering and track bars work with modification. With a full 2nd-gen frame under a 1st-gen body, basically all of DOR's 2nd-gen parts work. Have a qualified fabricator plan the swap. See the 2nd-gen axle and frame swaps page.

Where is the guide for 1994-and-newer Rams?

Our sister site, Dodge Ram Steering, covers 1994-and-newer Ram 2500/3500 steering: components, symptoms, death wobble and lifted geometry. It's linked from the home page.
